If Butterflies Could Sail From Star To Star Oil Painting 17 x 22 inches $500 This was painted from a poem I wrote about a dream. I painted another image from the same dream A Whale More Vast. The poem: Dreamscape #2 I walked out to the cliffs above the ocean far below, the sea spread out midnight blue under midnight sky trees clinging to the cliff held out bare roots to hold me cradling me safe above the rocks I sat there watching the moon rise over the ocean casting its ancient silver path across the waves I can never see that shining road without longing to walk there walk away, run away from the world ashore the sky was the blue of a butterfly's wing if a butterfly could sail from star to star the sea blue-black like the space between the galaxies as I swayed above the void, unspeaking the flukes of a whale rose out of the sea rising up more vast than any whale without a whisper of sound mute even to the music of falling water vanishing beneath the silver of the blind moon © 2002 Kathy Keenan |
